Pittsburgh locals Underneath brought their latest project, It Exists Between Us, to the Green Beacon Gallery in Greensburg, PA. Following genre spanning openers Flowers of Persephone, WHERETHEforsythiaBLOOMS, IwishIwasraining, and Gxllium, the band finally took the stage, bringing the venue into their world. From the opening note the band commanded the audience's attention with their crushing riffs, guttural vocals, and unrelenting rhythms. The crowd was immediately drawn into the chaotic yet meticulously crafted world of It Exists Between Us.
The project’s theme of existential dread resonated deeply through the set, as the band’s performance blurred the line between chaos and cohesion. Each member of Underneath brought their unique energy to the performance, with drummer Alex Ellsworth delivering a thunderous yet crisp foundation, guitarists Tad Logero, Jaden Barley, and Owen Clark weaving intricate layers of sound, and vocalist Joey Phillips channeling raw emotion into every growl and scream.
Underneath’s performance at the Green Beacon Gallery was more than a concert; it was an immersive experience that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Their ability to merge relentless aggression with profound emotional depth solidifies their place as one of Pittsburgh’s most compelling grindcore acts today.
